Chandler, AZ (October 9-10, 2010) - The Hairston Motorsports & Racing team just attended the Pacific Street Car Association (PSCA) Hughes Performance Arizona Nationals, at Firebird Raceway. Clint “The Milkman” Hairston of Tulare qualified third on Saturday, achieving top MPH of the day (6.19 @ 242.63 mph). John Scialpi and PSCA newcomer Shawn Jones lead the qualifying with two great efforts 6.081 and 6.111 respectively.
The race was challenging with temperatures reaching the mid 90”s on Sunday. Hairston and his Jerry Bickel built 2007 GTO raced Tim Henry driving Derrol Hubbard’s beautiful Bickel built 70 1/2 Camaro. Hairston’s 6.24 @ 239.44 took the win over Henry’s red light 6.75 @ 159.32. Clint’s 239.44 trap speed reset the PSCA National record. In the second round Hairston’s 6.20 @ 237.38 bested Randy Walker’s 6.29 @ 223.32 but not without a sacrifice. The normally reliable twin turbo small block experienced a burnt piston and blown head gasket ending the team’s weekend and a chance to race Scialpi in the semi-finals. With Scialpi going on to win the race, Clint’s lead his down to 65 points going into the PSCA World Finals, November 5-7 at Fontana.
Hairston currently holds the Pacific Street Car Association (PSCA) Pro Street National E.T. (6.084) and MPH (239.44) records and the West Coast Hot Rod Association (WCHRA) National Speed record (240.77 mph).
