NMCA Pro Street Speed Record

HMR opened their 2012 season campaign participating at the Nitto NMRA/NMCA All Star Nationals at the Atlanta Dragway. The team got off to a slow start in qualifying but got it together with a 6.08 pass on Saturday afternoon securing the #2 spot just behind Chris Rini. The 244.12 MPH speed on Saturday was good for a new record which was later backed up and reset in our semi-final pass against Jimmy Keen at 245.72 MPH. Unfortunately after running 6.06 in the semi-finals for the win, Clint experienced a chute deployment malfunction leaving him no choice but to visit the “kitty litter” at the end of the track. Clint did a great job of keeping the car straight avoiding what could have been a serious accident. The damage to the car was mostly cosmetic and the team along with help from Bill Lutz’s crew did a great job of getting the car ready for final eliminations against Chris Rini. While towing the car up to the staging lanes, Clint felt a vibration in the steering wheel. After closer inspection, crew chief, Jake Hairston found a bent right front spindle ending our day. The car will be going to Jerry Bickel Race Cars for repairs and updates and we will be back for the Nitto NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl race at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL July 12-15.
